Essential for the very sharp edge, Safety was the paramount motivator for designing these hooks. The resulting mountings are very strong and dependable. Form fit to the task, this mount will not jiggle and drop your axe, even in an earthquake. Natural motion, single handed placement and removal allows oops free use, unlike typical pegs or nails. This design allows storage with an edge cover in place with no interference.

Dimensions of Tyroll Forge Mounts are carefully fitted to each type of Axe, a complicated handmade shape hot forged for strength and safety. Made by ‘craftsmanship of risk’, meaning; every aspect is hand forged and measured hot by eye. All our hooks are perfectly functional; flat back, true resting planes, right angles, easily the best hook you are bound to see.   Hot forged by hand and eye coordination, they show slight marks and other variations, but this does not affect function and is hardly noticeable. They prove these are Art, not machine made product.

We surface treat with a double coat of Rustoleum spray paint. Clear Coat yields a color match that compliments fine Axe steel. Black is a classic and most popular. Also featured in Metallic Brown and Bronze.

INSTALLATION:  The two (#8 bugle head) screw hanging holes do require accurate locating of the wall stud, but this is easier than it might seem. This double hole configuration allows the axe mount to be very securely placed. When you need to tilt up one side, due to quirks of axe head configuration, this method of attachment of the hook allows the handle to hang plumb straight down – especially needed for big hewing axes, post hole twibils, fireman demolition tools, Pulaskis and Fiskar’s brand and other quirky shaped choppers with very asymmetric heads. Whether a fine modern Damascus specimen, venerable antique, beat up user, Japanese, Norwegian hewing axes, war hammers, etc we all want our primary tool easily accessible, securely held and well displayed, again, especially as you learn to make it sharp. Also works perfectly for compound bows, cross bows and sword hilts. Whether keeping them out of reach of children or very accessible for use in an emergency this mount gives security and control over your primary chopping tool.

Generik also has designed and will custom forge axe mounts to suit various sized smaller hatchets, double bit and big wide splitting mauls. These mounts are plenty strong enough to hang additional logging gear, such as utility wedge belt, axe sheath, canteens, etc.

ORIGIN STORY:  Customer Gerrit liked the look of our Forger’s Hook – Generik had initially designed this one as a handy wall mount hanging for his own forging hand Hammers.  Our customers liked it for their guitars and other musical instruments due to it’s minimalist form; secure hold without scratching.  But for a sharp axe mounted on the wall behind his work bench, G preferred a bit more security, while still allowing one-handed use. No one wants a sharp axe crashing down unexpectedly as you are vigorously working on a project. It’s hard on the edge, whatever it lands on, not to mention extreme danger.

Thus was born the Tyroll Original Axe Mount, a way to NOT have razor sharp axes tucked in dark dank rust forming wall spaces, or worse, kicking around the floor in your workspace. From hatchets to cruising axes, double bits and other big felling choppers, and on up to splitting malls, they all have unique requirements from girth of the handle to width of the axe head..and other quirks. Especially hewing axes, bearded axes and other really odd shaped implements of wood working, these valuable artifacts require proper holding which one size fits all type hooks loosely approximate. Who doesn’t want to display a fine axe?

Someone who prefers to hang their Hatchet!  The Hatcheteer aka HatchetHere went into production for Spring 2024 via yet another customer collaboration. Big thanks to Eric. This gracefully scaled down mount is perfect for indoor use attached to a stump for splitting kindling AND provides a very convenient way to hold your hatchet in a reversed position, with handle upward, for fast splitting (if you forgot to split it the night before). A Handy Hatcheteer is also smart for camping via placement in a tree preventing accidental stumbling over in the dark. With use of this mount, all campers know where your axe is, especially important in emergencies. Ease of use with either our Original Axe Mount or Hatcheteer encourages the habit of putting axe away in the correct spot, rather than just laying on the ground or propping up in a random place.
