Generik’s signature is the ‘Penny End’ scroll. Each piece is a jewel, elegantly hand forged in round stock, with an uncharacteristically smooth surface not typically associated with hammered iron. Generik’s hooks are sophisticated works of art and function and he’s tooled up for repeatable high volume production. Snowflakes, not widgets. We trust you’ll hand his work down for generations to come. Nothing ephemeral about it.

Generik’s “Penny Ends” are the most common shape found in illustration, yet rarest to find in actual forged iron. In contrast to the typical rolled up ‘rat tail’ taper or candy kiss ended scroll, Penny Ends don’t snag and their elegance is undeniable. There are very few blacksmiths forging them – especially in round stock, as it is the most difficult form to finesse. It’s required decades of attentive practice to attain the current state of the art. The technique utilizes revolutionary custom inserts anchored to an authentic (#450) Sheffield Cutler’s Anvil.,

The scroll’s classical visual appeal derives from the observations of an 11th century Italian mathematician named Lionardo Bonacci aka Fibonacci – filius (son) of Bonacci- whose Fibonacci Series lives on as a design principle divinely embedded in the graceful forms of Nature. Think: conch shells, fiddle head ferns, pine cones, and flower petals. Leonardo DaVinci’s Golden Mean springs from the same fount. When you support our shop, you’re lifting up a home grown factory that designs and forges tools and hardware that double as classical art pieces… self evident to all.
